The meeting place was Legends restaurant in Murphy NC with 50 members attending we had a very lively meeting and looking forward to being able to use the regular meeting room next month.
Greg Beyer opened with a prayer and the pledge
Penny Johnson introduced Margaret Ackiss who had recently attended the America Fest ’22and met a lot of the movers and shakers that are trying to make a difference. She emphasized that the younger crowd is getting organized and will be the wave of the future.
Chris Hall gave an update on the very important group, the Cherokee County Jural Assembly, still growing and being watchful of our local government.

Vince Peterson gave a very detailed report of the activities and progress of the recently formed “Concerned Citizens of Union County” patriotic group in Blairsville.
Greg Beyer showed a video clip of a Murphy resident being interviewed by Fox News regarding the Crypomining, which continues to be a big problem. Lynell Morris followed the video up with a report of community response to the crypto mining and a plea to get involved. Interesting detail that China banned crypto-mining so crypto moved to our area!
Leroy Moffit gave an atta-boy to our group as he pointed out our group influenced the outcome of the last election with impact on commissioners, school board, and most importantly the election of a constitutional sheriff.
Dan Adams reminded all about upcoming CBA meetings March 16th and April 20th at Legends restaurant. We have signs, bumper stickers, cards, and flyers available. As always our group generously gave donations to our jar for meeting room expenses. Legends restaurant provided great food and gave all a free dessert as an apology for double booking the meeting room.
Greg Beyer gave an update on the still unsettled issue of the Leachate dumping and asked our group for a call to action. He followed up with a legislative report which covered·
- College Debt “forgiveness” — Biden keeps trying
- Ranked Choice Voting – Defeated in GA General Assembly this session
- Biden’s latest bad nominees for an 11th District federal judge and for FCC
- New and excellent tools from Heritage Action for Sentinels
Open floor time allowed all to join in with their thoughts and we heard more pleas about the crypto mining, the frustration over lack of voting integrity, a poll showing about 75% are still Trump fans and hoping for big changes ahead, a call for community groups formed having a relationship with the sheriffs office.
Extensive discussion and ideas on how we can support new Sheriff Dustin Smith after the Cherokee reservation PD SWAT shooting.
