Pass Convention of States Resolution in NC
The North Carolina House passed the Convention of States (COS) resolution in 2021. Two NC senators are standing in the way of NC becoming the 19th state to ratify the COS resolution. Our members need to contact:
- Sen. Rabun, Senate Rules Committee Chair (919) 733-5963 – Bill.Rabon@ncleg.gov
- Sen. Berger, Senate President Pro Tempore (919) 733-5708, Phil.Berger@ncleg.gov
- Sen. Kevin Corbin, District 50 (919) 733-5859
And tell them that you support the Convention of States Resolution, and want them to pass HJR 233 out for a Senate floor vote THIS SESSION. Here is a link where you can call AND write to your NC senator regarding passing Convention of States.
If you are concerned about a Convention of States being abused to tamper with your Constitutional rights, take a look at the language of the CoS Resolution. Note in Section 1 what is in-scope for the COS:
” . . .a convention of the states limited to proposing amendments to the Constitution of the
United States that impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit the power and
jurisdiction of the federal government, and limit the terms of office for its officials and for
members of Congress.”
COS is only about constraining the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. Nowhere is there mention of re-writing the Constitution. Nowhere is there mentioned tampering with citizen’s Constitutional rights.
